The options may be chosen on the product pageKantha is a traditional method from the Eastern part of the Indian subcontinent that is similar to the Japanese sashiko embroidery technique and uses hand-stitching to make a sturdy, dense fabric out of thinner layers. The jacket also features the distinctive chest pocket from the traditional German liner and utility-oriented details such as a two-way zip and hand pockets. Once the jacket was sewn, it was sent to Bagru Textiles to be overdyed. Made in India.

Lightweight Type 3s Denim Jacket

The options may be chosen on the product pageOur Type 3s denim jacket pays homage to the classic Type III design with a few notable differences. The body has been slightly lengthened and we’ve added hand pockets that are lined with 100% cotton 8oz twill pocketing. Absent from the jacket are the standard Type III back seams and waist cinches; we opted to give the back of the jacket a cleaner design by replacing the original yoke with our trademark crossed back. Our Lightweight Type 3s Jacket features the same 12oz lightweight denim that is found in our bottoms collection, and just like the jeans, it features a light garment rinse and line dry to soften the fabric and give it a broken-in feel.

It begins with our flagship 14.5oz 120x shadow selvedge denim that will fade with high contrast. The body has been slightly lengthened and we’ve added hand pockets that are lined with a Japanese fine wale black corduroy. Absent from the jacket are the standard Type III back seams and waist cinches; we opted to give the back of the jacket a cleaner design by replacing the original yoke with our trademark crossed back.
PLEASE NOTE: We have made significant updates to the fit of this jacket based on feedback we have received over the years. The chest and arms have been opened up significantly and the jacket features a more relaxed fit overall. Please double check the updated measurements before purchasing, especially if you’ve owned a Type 3s jacket from us in the past.

The fabric is a 12oz raw black selvedge denim that is woven exclusively for us by Kuroki Mills in Okayama, Japan. We work with a local wash house in Los Angeles, CA to put the jacket through a multi-stage stonewash process to bring the character of the fabric out. Made in USA.
Please note: Due to the wash process, this jacket fits one size smaller than our other lightweight Type 3s denim jackets. Please check measurements carefully before ordering and consider sizing up one from your usual size.
